There. I said it.

This blog is so sadly out of date. And I'm so incredibly sorry about that!

Here's the thing of it: I don't have enough time, energy, or attention span to keep up with it!

And I will not bore you or annoy you with the running list of other things that have kept me/are keeping me away from this blog but just know that I don't know what to do with it at this point.

I'm on ravelry and all of my projects (23 to date) are being archived there at least. If you stumble upon this blog or have been following this blog and want to keep up with projects I've done, please leave a comment here with your ravelry contact info OR find me on ravelry yourself! My username is: stuffshemakes. I will gladly be friends with you on there!

Thanks so much, God bless, and drive safely.

Note to self

When it comes to turtles, placement of the eyes is key!!! They should always ALWAYS be placed on the sides of the head. *Pfffffft*

(I don't hate this one but I don't love this one either. Good thing he was only for me to use as a pin cushion. Is that mean?)

I'm making a menagerie

I've named him Cecil. He's just a baby (harp seal).

Perfectly precious little pachyderm

Her name is Luca and, YES(!), technically she does live on the second floor.

There goes that

*Pfffffffft*

Guess who didn't get to finish her latest favorite project.

(Poor little pachyderm! It's tough to be body-less.)

*sigh*

Spring Break was fun while it lasted. Three day weekend coming up. Woo-hooo!!!!

Little cutey

Just finished this little guy! He was made for a church fundraiser and I'm hoping that he brings in a lot of money despite the fact that he's so weentsy. Good things come in small packages, right?

Quitters never win

It's so bittersweet being done with this finally. I've been working on this none stop for almost four straight days and now that it's done it's completely weird not to be ripping things out and starting over again, again, and again, and again.

I worked from a heavily modified pattern. This is not because I tried to do it that way but because (part way through) I got fed up with following the pattern and just went completely off on my own. Amazing that my own stubbornness didn't inhibit me being able to finish it.

FAIL

I don't know where I got to believing that I'm too good to follow patterns!!! And I don't know where I got to believing that it's okay for me to break the unwritten rule that I actually CAN and SHOULD make things that are to be worn. I'm just going to have to start over again.

Things I've made so far

Pink Elephant - pattern *FREE* from LionBrand.com

A Thomas engine - no pattern, improvised entirely

A penguin - pattern *FREE* from LionBrand.com

A pear - pattern from Amigurumi World book

(another) Penguin - pattern *FREE* from LionBrand.com

And for my NEXT trick

I used to be very creative. Read: USED TO be. *forlorn sigh* To venture onto Etsy is to only kick my creative ego while it's already down. Thank goodness for other people and their patterns!!!

This is really more for me than you but if you get anything out of it then awesome!!!

This is essentially a wish list in progress of items that I hope to someday make:

Koala granny square pattern that I would LOVE to make into a blanket. Crochetroo - your work is so awesome!

When I actually complete my 1st amigurumi, this sweet little mermaid is at the top of my list for dolls that I want to do. I LOVE her!!! Owlishly - your work is incredible!

Elephants are SO awesome and my favorite animals right up there with giraffes. Jaravee - It's only a matter of time until I'm getting this pattern from you!

Introductions are in order

I used to be very crafty and artsy. I would spend a minimum of 4 hours a day painting on giant canvases and turning my apartment into my own private art gallery. I would create counted cross stitch patterns of whimsical little designs that I would stitch onto afghans and things. I would mold and shape little bits of clay into miniature four course meals and personalized Christmas tree ornaments. I would sew custom designed water bottle holders with nifty pockets for snacks and things and giant teepees for my nieces and nephews to camp out in. I had all the time in the world to be creative!!!

Then I went and got married and had a baby.

:-p

Don't get me wrong, I l-o-v-e-LOVE my husband and my daughter. But I strongly dislike the fact that I no longer have time to be creative (unless you count the various things that I do to run my portrait and wedding photography business - and I don't think that counts).

My point is that if I don't get and keep my creative juices flowing, I'm going to be dry pretty soon!!! And I don't want that to happen. And despite the fact that I don't have time to devote to yet ANOTHER blog (I already have four others going!!!), welcome to my attempt to waking the creative muses that used to inspire me.

I'm going to start with crocheting soft toys for my daughter and hopefully that will segue itself into me returning to painting (at least).

Wish me luck!
